Mojave Subdivision of the Southern Pacific, Bakersfield CA

Jim Niell has a fantastic HO layout that is both a joy to see and a dream to operate. It represents the trackage used by both the Union Pacific and the BNSF railroads to move freight between Bakersfield and Mojave. In the past, Santa Fe used the tracks for their passenger trains, but like the real railroads today, Jim has opted to operate only freight trains.

His layout operates using a DCC power system. There is track detection and signals so the engineer will know when it is clear to proceed.

Jim has had a scheduled operating session each month. At this time he is rebuilding and improving his layout. Check this page in the future if you would like to see his layout. When he is ready, you can contact him for time and directions from this page.
