Modeling Stains
Stains are needed in modeling to add a base color to resin castings and wood. The stains were available through the Floquil Company until they discontinued their wood stain line. All is not lost though when you run out of your stockpile. You can make stains from the regular Floquil paints by using the following formula. Dilute the paint with Dio-Sol in the amount of 60% paint, 40% Dio-Sol.
Dip your brush first into the paint and then into a jar of Dio-Sol. If you require a lot of stain at a time, mix up a batch in a separate jar and remember to clean the jar opening and seal the lid tightly. It will last a long time if you do.
